Otherwise Award 2017

About the Otherwise Award

Transcribed from otherwiseaward.org year pages (one per award year, each listing winners and the Honor List). Year is the award's own label, which is the publication year of the works; e.g. the 2019 Otherwise Award was announced in 2020. Called the James Tiptree, Jr. Award until 2019. Kept winners and Honor List; dropped long lists. Books only: dropped short stories and novelettes in magazines or anthologies, a magazine issue, music albums, a TV series, multi-volume series honors, and the Y: The Last Man comic run. Kept standalone novellas (Distances, The Four Profound Weaves, Depart, Depart!, What a Fish Looks Like), graphic novels, anthologies and one nonfiction book. Skipped the 2006 and 2009 Special Honors. 2022 and 2023 were not awarded (on hold); 2024 has winners and a long list but no Honor List. Winners cross-checked against Wikipedia; 2019-2025 Honor Lists cross-checked against sfadb. Repairs: ODY-C title reordered to the published form, beyond title-cased, missing space restored in Hwarhath Stories.

Organization: Otherwise Award Motherboard. Years are award years, which can differ from publication years. Official site (opens in a new tab)
