Mint Best Books of the Year

About the Mint Best Books of the Year

Mint Lounge's year-end editorial picks of the year's books. 2017: Lounge's 25 books from 2017 that stayed with us (Sana Goyal). 2020: Lounge picks, 10 books from India we loved in 2020 (Somak Ghoshal). 2025: Team Lounge's favourite reads of 2025, 20 books, plus the same page's sidebar of 5 books for young readers we loved (listed under Books for Young Readers). No list found for 2006-2016, 2018 or 2022. Left out: 2019's The books of 2019 you should not miss, a business-books column by Vivek Kaul in Lounge's Business of Life section, not Lounge's main books list; 2023's year-end essay by Somak Ghoshal, which names books in prose sections, so any list drawn from it would be our selection, not Mint's; 2021's Our year in reading (staff reading notes, mostly on older books); 2024's The year in books: hits and misses of 2024 (an essay on Indian publishing, not a list); and a 2016 Opinion column on four books. livemint.com blocks AI crawlers, so every page was read through Wayback Machine copies of the livemint.com and lifestyle.livemint.com URLs. Author and translator names follow the page spelling. Picture-book illustrators are listed as co-authors. No list is ranked.
