About the Aurealis Awards

Year is the award year the body uses: the "2025 Aurealis Awards" honor works published in 2025 and were presented in February 2026. Book categories only: SF, Fantasy and Horror Novel; YA Novel; Children's Fiction (Children's Novel 2006, Long Fiction 2007-2009, Fiction told primarily through words 2011-2012); Children's Illustrated Work (picture book category 2008-2012); Children's Short Fiction (2006-2007, all standalone books); Graphic Novel/Illustrated Work; Collection; Anthology (author field holds the editors); and SF, Fantasy and Horror Novella (from 2015) only where the novella was a standalone book. Entries in short-story categories are kept only when published as a standalone book (e.g. The Arrival, 2006 YA Short Story winner). Golden Aurealis, Convenors' Award, Sara Douglass Book Series Award and the Kris Hembury award are skipped. 2011 Horror Novel had no shortlist or winner; its two honourable mentions are level Honor. Two 2008 children's entries that named a four-book set are split into one row per book. Rows cite sfadb.com (Locus Science Fiction Foundation), which the body's own Finalists and Winners page (https://web.archive.org/web/20250817004147/https://aurealisawards.org/finalists-and-winners/) names as the full list of nominees and winners; aurealisawards.org itself lapsed in October 2026. sfadb pages are named by presentation year (one year after the award year). Standalone-book status follows sfadb's typography (book titles bold, stories quoted).
