About the The Kitschies

Year is the edition label the Kitschies use on their own site: the eligibility (publication) year, with winners announced early the next year (e.g. the 2011 Kitschies were presented in February 2012). Rows come from archive.org snapshots of thekitschies.com/previous-awards/<year>-awards/ because the live site no longer carries the lists. Cross-checked against sfadb.com (which files each edition under the announcement year) and Wikipedia; winners and shortlists agree for every year. Kept Red Tentacle (Novel) and Golden Tentacle (Debut). Dropped Inky Tentacle (cover art), Invisible Tentacle (digital fiction) and Black Tentacle (judges' discretion); the 2010 Black Tentacle went to a book, Donald Westlake's Memory, and is skipped. No Golden Tentacle in 2009; the 2010 Golden Tentacle page lists only the winner. No awards for 2016. Shortlisted books are Shortlist throughout, though some early pages head them Finalists. Repairs: titles recased from the all-caps site text; 'Osama: A Novel' trimmed to 'Osama'; 'Mandlebrot' corrected to 'Mandelbrot'; author spellings fixed to Emmi Itäranta, Micaiah Johnson and Alex Wells. The revived 2021-2023 editions (awarded 2022-2024) are not on the archived site and are left out.
